Indigofern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 192 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of narrow, slanted stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of huge, stiff, pointed, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with bronze tips, rigid and soft.

It produces thick bunches of small, indigo flowers with slender, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like pine needles. In early summer it forms medium-sizedyellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
