Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small amounts of small, wispy leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid peach with brown streaks.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, brown blossoms with 2 circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like ashes.

In early autumn it produces small, cuboid fruit. The soft florescent orange skin is stretchy and sweet, and the very soft azure flesh is very salty and dry. The light brown seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is bio-luminescent.
