Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In heathlands.
It is giant, growing up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is very frail.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
