Trailing Orangefruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 48 feet (14.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is gray.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, bronze and silver varieties.

In early spring, it produces clusters of large, vibrant orange blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like vanilla.

In mid-summer it produces large, perforated fruit. The waxy silver skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy beige flesh is sweet and salty and oily. The bronze seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It comes in 18 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
