Climbing Moonflower
Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its blue stem is thick and splits into 10 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, caramel and cream leaves are thin with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.
Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with beige petals and a bronze central disk. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They fall easily.
It has a powerful scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has lots of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
It can absorb up to 5 times its own weight in water.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
