Bronzeberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in delicate, smooth, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow.

The numerous branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of small, 5 pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are amber at the bottom and green with bronze patches at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, bronze blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like fruity.

In late summer it produces , spherical fruit. The rubbery grey skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the soft faded red flesh is sweet and sour and syrupy. The dark grey seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
