Copperleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is copper, and is covered in large amounts of rigid faded red spines. The lumpy leaves are generally brown. Large amounts of them grow on slender, brown and crimson branches that are short stubs. The leaves are robust, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 33 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally turquoise; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like leather.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the brown flesh is rough, and the brown sap is thin.
