Amberfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 17 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in rough, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches are short and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan with amber edges.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, pastel orange blossoms with spiral shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like alcohol.

In early autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The fuzzy orange skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is savoury, and the soft grey flesh is spicy and very dry. The hazel seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
