Copperfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in thin, silky, brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of giant, needle-like leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and light grey.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, black blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like new carpet.

In late summer it produces , oval fruit. The hairy orange skin is thin and inedible, and the soft orange flesh is bitter and juicy. The orange seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
