Blacklime

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 51 feet (15.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in thin, cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The abundance of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of tiny, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are black and black.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, blue blossoms with fan-like petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like cherry.

In mid-summer it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The waxy caramel skin is delicate and savoury, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is sour and syrupy. The yellow seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
