Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In rainforests, On rotten logs, and In damp forests.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is extremely strong.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release hundred of spores.
