Burgundy Silverbush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 129 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, twisting stems covered in thick, ridged, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are long and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of large, very thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the edges and aquamarine at the center, rigid and soft.

It produces dozens of giant, gold flowers with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like meat. In midwinter it forms largelight brown berries.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is frequently struck by lightning.
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
