This deep red moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In rainforests, and In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is overwhelmingly delicate.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release dozens of spores.

It is frequently struck by lightning.
It is suitable for making strong rope
The leaves are overwhelmingly toxic, and very spicy.
