Copperleaf Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The narrow stem is orange, and is covered in thousands of rigid lime spines. The jagged-edged, asymmetrical leaves are found in copper, blood red and beige varieties. Large amounts of them grow from the base in a loosely patterned way. The leaves are delicate, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally vibrant orange; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 8 petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like alcohol.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the lime flesh is soft, and the gold sap is thin.
