Burgundy Spearvine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 65 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, straight stems covered in thin, knobbly, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, spear shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are light grey and blood red, delicate and smooth.

It produces large amounts of tiny, amber flowers with spear shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like garlic. In early winter it forms giantmuted red, shelled seeds.
