Copperfruit Tree

This huge fruit tree grows up to 71 feet (21.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in knobbly, burgundy bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with small amounts of miniature, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either red, or orange with brown dots.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, copper blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like lavender.

In late summer it produces , perforated fruit. The fuzzy slate skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft orange flesh is sweet and dry. The black seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
