Amber

This massive shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 141 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, wavy stems covered in hard, cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, sickle shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are black and yellow, hardy and crispy.

In late spring it produces a thick sheet of small, gold blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like leather.

In mid-autumn small wide fruits ripen. The smooth amber skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is bitter and dry. The light brown seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
