Silverberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 11 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many branched, curved stems covered in very thick, ridged, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of giant, 6 pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally subtle orange, hardy and clammy.

In mid-spring it produces large amounts of small, blood red flowers with circular petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like fermented fruit.
