Silverbark Vine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 140 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, silky, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.
The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, 5 pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid beige with silver zig-zags, light and clammy.
In late spring it produces copious amounts of tiny, brown blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like old books.
In mid-autumn oblong fruits ripen. The crispy violet skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is bitter and salty, and the very soft blood red flesh is sweet and sour and very dry. The olive seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
