Copperberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of giant, V-shaped leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper, azure and brown varieties.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, olive blossoms with fan-like petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like chocolate.

In late autumn it produces small, slender, 2 pointed fruit. The smooth sky blue skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy silver flesh is salty and very juicy. The light brown seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
