Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, slanted trunk covered in very thick, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of giant, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are light brown and orange.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, crimson blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like a damp log.

In late summer it produces , circular fruit. The hairy brilliant blue skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet and savoury, and the crunchy indigo flesh is savoury and sticky. The beige seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
