Golden Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This huge cactus grows up to 112 feet (34.1 meters) tall. The tapering stem is dark grey, and is covered in handfuls of flexible gold spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are deep orange at the sides and sky blue at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 56 petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like paint.

The cactus's skin is tough, the brown flesh is smooth, and the hazel sap is thin.
