Clinging Mahoganyfern

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 10 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of narrow, slanted stems covered in fine, wrinkled, black bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of giant, slender, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of yellow-green that gradient shifts to bold red at the top, rigid and waxy.

In mid-summer it produces lots of medium-sized, peach flowers with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.
