Silvervine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its silver stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are very thick and straight, and split into numerous branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, gray leaves are 9 pointed with wavy edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with alternating petals of black and crimson, with a light grey central disk. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like fish, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
