Bronzeberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, slanted trunk covered in delicate, smooth, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown.

The thin clumps of branches are long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of giant, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either sky blue or bronze, with light grey edges.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, indigo blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like rainy days.

In mid-autumn it produces small, 9 pointed fruit. The smooth pink skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is sweet and salty, and the slightly crunchy light brown flesh is savoury and very juicy. The white seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
