Clinging Azurafruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of huge, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of washed-out orange that gradient shifts to azure at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, grey blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy blue skin is tough and sweet and salty, and the very soft caramel flesh is salty and syrupy. The bold orange seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
