Copperfruit

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in very thick, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches are long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of large, cylindrical leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange or dark yellow, with blue lines.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, slate blossoms with broad, flat petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In early summer it produces small, wide fruit. The soft blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy grey flesh is salty and dry. The lime seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
