Azurefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, needle-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either orange, or azure with dark brown lines.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, copper blossoms with finger-like petals. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In early winter it produces , long, straight fruit. The rough aquamarine skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft azure flesh is spicy and powdery. The orange seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
