Bloodfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 74 feet (22.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 24 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in silky, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.

The sparse patches of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of large, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are cream on the edges and blood red at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, azure blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

In late autumn it produces large, triangular fruit. The fuzzy gold skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft caramel flesh is sweet and oily. The beige seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is very rare outside of a particular area.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and can be used to make numerous baked goods.
