Aquamarinevine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 132 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several narrow, straight stems covered in hard, ridged, black bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches are very short and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, oval-shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are pastel green and hazel, frail and smooth.

In late spring it produces several medium-sized, olive blossoms with 3 oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like rich perfume.

In midwinter small circular fruits ripen. The clammy aquamarine skin is peel-able and sweet and savoury, and the crunchy white flesh is bitter and juicy. The red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
