Slate

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized flower grows up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. Its orange-yellow and slate stems grow in bunches of 7 and are thick with a curved tip, and the miniature, yellow leaves are black on the underside and are asymmetrical with wavy edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with azure petals and an amber central disk. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They detach easily.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like apple, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
