Chocolate Sunflower

This big flower grows up to 3.5 feet (1.1 meters) tall. Its emerald stem is very thin, and the miniature, burgundy leaves are wispy with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 6 to 9 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with alternating petals of slate and hazel, with a turquoise central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 petals. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like chocolate, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
