Blueberry Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 64 feet (19.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pine-coloured.

The abundance of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of giant, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, beige and blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, turquoise blossoms with many layers of petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like rich perfume.

In early winter it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The crispy deep blue skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is spicy and sour, and the slightly crunchy pink flesh is spicy and sour and very dry. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
