Turquoise

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 73 feet (22.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the light wood is pale yellow.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, perforated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise on the edges and peach at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, yellow blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old shoes.

In early winter it produces tiny, slender, 9 pointed fruit. The fuzzy azure skin is tough and bitter and savoury, and the soft gentle purple flesh is sweet and dry. The beige seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
