This bright purple or azure moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In heathlands, In marshes, and On trees.
It is average-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release hundred of spores.
