Silverfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, angular trunk covered in fine, cracked, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The sparse patches of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small amounts of huge, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and beige.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, yellow blossoms with needle-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like pot-purri.

In late autumn it produces small, spherical fruit. The smooth black skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy intense purple flesh is sweet and bitter and very dry. The caramel seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
