Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in thick, smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The small bunches of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small amounts of giant, circular leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are deep green and drab blue.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, light brown blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like rotting meat.

In mid-autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The hairy dark grey skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft vibrant orange flesh is sweet and syrupy. The muted yellow seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
