Bloodvine
Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This enormous flower grows up to 11.6 feet (3.5 meters) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thick, and the large, moss green leaves are very narrow and elongated with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.
A single tiny flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 35 cm (13.8 inches) wide, with blood red petals on the lower layer and peach petals decorated with violet dots on the inner layer. The central disk is slate. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced narrow petals. They detach easily.
It has a delicate scent that smells like paint, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
