This lime green moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In heathlands, In rainforests, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is very light; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores.

It comes in 82 varieties.
The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
