Violet

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This giant flower grows up to 12.5 feet (3.8 meters) tall. Its moss green stem is thin and splits into 5 branching stems at the base, and the giant, gray-green leaves are dark beige and white on the underside and are long, narrow with jagged edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 68 cm (26.8 inches) wide, with hazel petals on the lower layer and vibrant purple petals decorated with light grey dots on the inner layer. The central disk is aquamarine. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of handfuls of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like pine needles, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
