Caramelvine

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 468 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in fine, waxy, brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of clammy, tiny, perforated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are olive with orange tips.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, caramel blossoms with broad, flat petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like burning wood.

In late summer it forms giant, cream, shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
