Bronze

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in delicate, smooth, brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is gray.

The abundance of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of large, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive with orange tips.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, light red blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like warm cookies.

In late summer it produces small, 7 pointed fruit. The smooth silver skin is peel-able and sweet, and the slightly crunchy bronze flesh is savoury and syrupy. The red seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
