Bluebell
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is thick, and the huge, green leaves are long, narrow with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
5 to 7 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with petals that are red on the underside and pastel blue on the top. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like skunk spray, and it has copious amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
