Blackberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in thin, waxy, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is light brown.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of small, kidney-shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are orange and beige.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, black blossoms with 7 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early winter it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The soft pale green skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy light brown flesh is sweet and syrupy. The brilliant green seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It can survive a long time without water.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
Several parts of the grass have medicinal properties.
