Coppervine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 29 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several sturdy, slanted stems covered in rough, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of large, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are orange and light brown, flexible and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-spring it produces copious amounts of giant, grey blossoms with spear shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like sweat.

In midwinter small long, tapering fruits ripen. The rough sky blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy crimson flesh is very sour and sticky. The lime seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
