Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thick, cracked, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, long, narrow leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are washed-out red on the sides and pink at the center.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of medium-sized, pink blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cheese.

In early winter it produces very large, long, curved fruit. The sticky purple skin is thin and salty, and the soft washed-out red flesh is sweet and salty and syrupy. The hazel seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
