Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 24 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, slanted trunk covered in rough, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of miniature, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are grey at the bottom and beige with bronze splotches at the top.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, brown blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In late summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The leathery bronze skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is salty and very dry. The silver seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
