Copperberry

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 55 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous thick, wonky stems covered in cracked, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of large, perforated, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either black or copper, with muted green dots, resistant and soft.

In mid-summer it produces lots of large, silver blossoms with kidney-shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like vomit.

In early winter small long, curved fruits ripen. The crispy blue skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and syrupy. The grey seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
