Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either slate or amber, with red lines.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, amber blossoms with 3 spiral shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like citrus.

In mid-autumn it produces small, teardrop-shaped fruit. The smooth purple skin is peel-able and spicy, and the soft gold flesh is salty and juicy. The blood red seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
