Blueberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 85 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several thick, wonky stems covered in thin, cracked, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are short, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, asymmetrical, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue on the sides and purple at the center, robust and fuzzy.

In late summer it produces handfuls of medium-sized, yellow blossoms with triangular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In late winter small slender, 8 pointed fruits ripen. The waxy black skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is sweet and syrupy. The green seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
